A teen has died aft a cliff-jumping mishap astatine Comox Lake, on Vancouver Island, over the weekend.
Comox Valley RCMP said they're investigating the incident, which resulted successful a 17-year-old boy's death.
They said archetypal responders were called astir 9:45 p.m. Saturday to the country known arsenic Devil's Ladder astatine Comox Lake, wherever it was reported that a younker had jumped from a cliff into the h2o and failed to resurface.
Mounties said adjacent paddleboarders located the young antheral and instantly began CPR. Firefighters arrived soon aft and took implicit life-saving efforts.
The teen was past transported to a section hospital, wherever helium was pronounced dead.
"This is simply a heart-breaking nonaccomplishment for the community," said Const. Monika Terragni with the Comox Valley RCMP. "A young life, conscionable 17 years aged — it's a calamity that touches everyone, whether you knew him personally oregon not."
Police said the B.C. Coroners Service is investigating what happened and that determination is presently nary grounds to suggest criminality was involved.
